Forestry management at Fibria is carried out at the company’s rural properties, where its commercial eucalyptus plantations are, along with its conservation areas for native vegetation, rivers, lakes, and other structures (roads, tracks, fire towers, buildings and so on).

Fibria adopts principles and operational procedures that guarantee the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of its forestry areas.

Wood procurement policy

Fibria Celulose S.A., a producer and distributor of pulp and paper manufactured using renewable and sustainable forests, has committed itself to adopting the best available practices to avoid purchasing and/or supplying pulp and paper from the following origins:

Wood that has been obtained illegally;

2

Wood that has been obtained in violation of traditional or civil rights;

3

Wood that has been obtained from forests where such activities represent a threat to their high conservation value;

4

Wood that has been obtained from forests where land is in the process of conversion into plantations or to non-forestry uses;

5

Wood that has been obtained from forests where genetically modified trees have been planted.

In order to ensure that these objectives are met, in all wood procurement procedures, the company shall perform internal risk assessments regarding all suppliers of forestry products, in compliance with FSC-STD-40-005 -V2 -1 and NBR 14790–Appendix G standards.
