09.22.10 - New paper from Fibria
Product for commercial receipts, that meets the new legislation, can now be put on the market
São Paulo – The IPT (Technological Research Institute) has just granted formal approval of Fibria’s new Termoscript KPR, a thermal paper for use in automated commercial equipment that provides greater image definition and duration, retaining the legible print for up to seven years.
This innovation provides gains for the Brazilian consumer, by increasing the useful life of receipts that need to be kept for several years. The product is fully compliant with the requirements of the recently introduced Cotepe Act no 04/10, which determines the technical standards for the paper spools used in equipment that issues commercial receipts. To ensure that it is used correctly, Termoscript KPR has a watermark that is visible in ultraviolet light and shows whether the type of paper used in any given equipment is appropriate.
According to Silney Szyszko, general business manager for specialty papers at Fibria, the Termoscript KPR ought to meet with immediate public approval “since it is the first in Brazil to comply with the new legislation and be approved for use by the official technical regulatory body”. Brazilian retailers have until January 1, 2011 to adjust to the regulatory changes and adopt the new thermal paper. The new product is already in production at the company’s Piracicaba unit (SP) and will be available in the market as from October.
