- Fibria concludes its strategic repositioning, focusing on its core business, pulp
- São Paulo – The third quarter of 2011 was marked the conclusion of Fibria’s strategic repositioning exclusively in the core business of pulp and the forestry base. Despite macroeconomic challenges with the real’s depreciation against the dollar, the Company’s stable pulp production and sales in the period demonstrate the strength of the Company’s decision. The sale of its last paper asset, the Piracicaba Unit, to OJI Paper helped maintain the Company’s cash and liquidity position.

- Fibria’s income at R$215 million in 2Q11
- São Paulo – In 2Q11, Fibria’s net income reached R$215 million, 66% up the same period in 2010. The 13% dollar depreciation in the period caused the pulp price in reais to retreat 12%, which directly impacted Fibria’s net income, from R$1.6 billion in 2Q10 to R$1.4 billion in 2Q11. The decreased revenue was offset by the Company’s improved financial results, which rose from a R$310 million loss in 2Q10, when the dollar appreciated 1% to R$277 million gains at the end of 2Q11, due to the 4% dollar depreciation in the period. Net income for 1Q11 was directly benefited by the sale of CONPACEL and KSR’s assets. The net income for 2Q11 would have had increased 45% quarter-on-quarter, excluding effect of the sale-generated gains.

- Marcelo Castelli assumes post of Fibria CEO
- São Paulo – As of today, July 1st, Fibria, the global leader in the production of bleached eucalyptus pulp, has a new Chief Executive Officer. Marcelo Castelli, who was the company’s director of Forestry, Paper, Strategy and Supplies, assumes the post previously held by Carlos Aguiar, who has headed the company since it was founded, on September 1, 2009. Aguiar will become a member of Fibria’s Board of Directors in 2012. In line with the best corporate governance practices, this process of succession was announced on March 3rd of this year.

- Fibria presents its Sustainability Report 2010
- Sao Paulo - Fibria’s Sustainability Report 2010 is now available at: www.fibria.com.br/rs2010. This document assembles the company’s results, in terms of economic, financial, corporate governance and socioenvironmental responsibility performance during the past year. The publication is the result of the work of more than one hundred professionals over a period of five months. According to Carlos Aguiar, Fibria’s CEO, “The report is our most important communication tool. It is here that we reaffirm our commitment to transparency, the best corporate governance practices and a close and open relationship with the communities in which we are inserted. It is here also that we render an account of the company’s contribution towards a sustainable society”.

- Fibria profits R$389 million in 1Q11
- Sao Paulo - In the first quarter of 2011, Fibria posted net income of R$389 million, up 140% quarter-on-quarter, in large part due to the results of the sale of Conpacel and KSR. The proceeds from the sale, in the amount of R$1.5 billion, also contributed significantly to the reduction of the Company’s debt. Net debt at the end of March totaled R$7.959 billion, down 19% over 4Q10’s R$9.816 billion. As compared to the first quarter of last year, when net debt was R$10.856 billion, the decline was 27%. Pro-forma EBITDA for 1Q11 was R$607 million, stable quarter-on-quarter. Net debt/EBITDA continues to fall, reaching 2.9x, its lowest level since Fibria’s founding. A year ago, this indicator stood at 5.6x.

- Fibria announces CEO succession
- São Paulo - Fibria announced today that it has initiated the process of succession to the position of CEO. Carlos Aguiar, who has been in the post since Fibria was founded, on September 1, 2009, will be succeeded by Marcelo Castelli, currently director of Forestry, Paper, Strategy and Supplies, who will take up his new post on July 1, 2011.

- Pioneering support from Fibria for the UN’s International Year of Forests
- São Paulo - Fibria, the world’s leading producer of hardwood pulp, is the first Brazilian forestry sector company to join the campaign of the International Year of Forests, created by the United Nations (UN). The UN has given its approval for the company to use the seal on its materials, to help raise awareness of the importance of conservation of forests, the essence of Fibria’s business.

- Fibria included in the BM&FBovespa Carbon Efficient Index
- São Paulo - This Thursday, Fibria was announced as one of the 42 publicly listed companies that will comprise the Carbon Efficient Index (ICO2), launched by the BM&FBOVESPA and the BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank). This indicator, set up with the aim of promoting the adoption of environmental management practices to combat climate change, is calculated on the basis of the free float (total number of issued shares trading in the market) and the GHG emission coefficient of the constituent companies.

- Três Lagoas Unit is recommended for the expansion of FSC certified area
- São Paulo - Fibria’s Forestry Unit at Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul state, has just completed its audit procedures with IMAFLORA for the expansion of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) areas established through partnership agreements, adding an extra 17,500 hectares to the 203,659 hectares already certified. The audit involved three days of field checks, including inspections in 19 farms and their respective documentation. Currently, the Três Lagoas Unit is ISO 9001 and 14001 certified and also holds CERFLOR/PEFC Forest management, FSC and FSC chain of custody, and CERFLOR/PEFC certifications.
